Twitter’s Radical Transformation as “X”

X - New twitter Logo

There’s been a lot of buzz on the internet as Twitter, the app we all know, changed its name over the weekend. It’s now called X, but it still has the same “tweet” feature we all know.

This rebranding marks another significant step in the ongoing transformation of Twitter, as it aspires to become more than just a social media platform.

What is the app going to be now?

According to CEO Linda Yaccarino, the objective is clear – Twitter aims to evolve into an app that can do “everything.” As Twitter was acquired by X Corp, headed by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, it has a twofold vision – safeguarding freedom of speech and catalysing the rise of X, the all-encompassing app of the future.

Twitter’s name change is showcasing its evolution, and the original name was fitting for the start of short 140-character messages, resembling the sound of birds tweeting; however, the new name, X, is to align with the platform’s expanded capabilities. Users can now share a greater variety of content, such as extended videos. Additionally, Twitter plans to introduce comprehensive communication features and expand to cater to users’ financial needs.

What’s with the letter X?

The letter “X” holds a significant place in Musk’s heart, from his very first startup, X.com, which later became PayPal, SpaceX (his space-exploration venture) to the recently launched artificial intelligence app, to his son’s name X Æ A-XII, the letter “X” is most undoubtedly significant to him.

In April 2022, Musk bought Twitter, leading to the platform’s rebranding and official name change to X Corp. However, this change doesn’t come with new features right away, as it aligns with Musk’s strategy of generating excitement before releasing significant updates.

As Twitter takes this monumental step towards becoming “X,” many are sitting on the fence, seeing how this journey unfolds before commenting.

What do you think the future of X will be?
