The Future of Search and Why SEO is Evolving
Search behaviour is changing rapidly. People aren’t just Googling anymore; they’re asking AI tools for answers.
It looks like we’re all going to be adapting to a new way of life for the foreseeable future. It’s also now become clear that the Coronavirus isn’t going to come and go without leaving some long-term business. The economic repercussions with businesses most definitely feeling the strain and some not knowing if they can withstand the situation.
Are you and your business prepared?
Well CM Ventures is and we want you to know, we are here to help and guide you through these unprecedented times.
Whilst you might be tempted to focus purely on staying afloat at the moment, you shouldn’t be as it’s never been more prevalent to plan for the future of your business and be fully prepared for the aftermath of COVID-19.
1. Inform your customers
If you haven’t already, it’s best to advise your customers, your current standing on Covid-19 and how it will affect your business. So say you’re a florist, but you can’t open your shop, tell your customers you’re still open for business and still market your business that you can offer deliveries instead. Or if you are a building company mid-way through a build, inform your customers on your COVID-19. Health & Safety policy and what measures you are putting in place to ensure you (and your customers) are safe.
Make sure your customers know you’re open and still going strong. We have produced several email newsletters for our clients informing them of their current standing to keep them informed.
2. Continue with your Social Media presence
If you’ve got a Social Media presence – don’t stop being social, people still want to hear from you. If you haven’t, we’d strongly suggest you consider creating one to market your business.
There’s lots of positivity about people wanting to (at least trying) to continue as normal in this current situation. It doesn’t have to be outrightly selling your service, but just to tell people you’re there for them. We’ve seen a lot of businesses changing their business focus from being a plumber to offering a delivery service to vulnerable people, it’s about adapting to the current situation.
3. Offer a discount on your website
If you have a product to sell, but cannot open your shop, offer online orders and delivery. Why not consider a discount on your products or even a discount if they book now, and the work is completed in say, August (that’s hoping we’re all back to normal by then). Tell them how you are adapting our services to remain by their side, their loyalty will be rewarded.
4. Do you have a blog on your website?
This is another ideal way to communicate with your customers. Blogs are informal ways to communicate about you, your company, the services you offer, or even showing off your pets. People like to know who they are buying from and by creating a blog on your website, this is the perfect platform to do so. Again, it’s also a great way of sharing industry news & business insights surrounding your business and telling people what’s going on during COVID-19.
5. Update your website
Your website – otherwise known as your shop front, at the moment, needs to be up to date. Are you operating as normal, are you working remotely or on reduced hours – if you are it needs to say that. A banner on your homepage is the perfect way to do this as it’s the 1st page they see when they land on your site.
6. Are you visible online?
With so many people now confined to their homes with the internet becoming the main source of information for updates within our local community, entertainment, games and news, search traffic as you can imagine, is increasing day by day – you’ve got a thriving and growing audience to promote your business.
Now is a good idea to consider implementing an SEO or even PPC strategy to market your business so you need to be seen in Google’s search listings. This should be considered for now, but also the aftermath of the current situation – as it’s not going to just spring back into action and the doors of shops will fling open, it’s going to be a long and windy road.
7. Why not send them a little something in the post?
Have you considered sending some good old fashioned Direct Marketing in the post? For many it works, for many, it doesn’t, but with a captive audience, why not give it a try. If you’ve got a decent up to date list of your B2C customers, why not send them some merchandise, a copy of your brochure, an offer (as we mentioned above) or even just a note to say hi and that you’re still there, open for business – the thought is there and will go a long way.
If you need any help on marketing your business please get in touch, we’ve bags of ideas, bundled with tons of enthusiasm and we’ll get through this….together.
